    Well the ball seat was toast, it came out in pieces. So I cleaned everything up and replaced the seat, the end bushing and the boot. Turned out to be a fairly simple job after first doing some on line research since the service manual was pretty much worthless with respect to removing the shifter for rebuild. In the end it's back to shifting smoothly and the pesky buzzy rattle is gone.

    Today I went ahead and changed my transmission oil, went with Redline MT90. Well worth the extra dollars and shifts the best it has since I bought it. Love my TJ !!
