I JUST PURCHASED A 2006 RUBICON THAT IS SO STOCK IT WOULD NOT EVEN PASS CALIF. SMOG BECAUSE IT NEEDED THE TSB-25-005-13 THAT ADRESSES VARIOUS SMOG SENSORS NOT EVER GETTING READY. LOCAL JEEP DEALER INSTALLED THIS TSB AND ALL IS GOOD AND IT WAS INSTALLED AT NO COST. I HAVE PUT ABOUT 260,000 MILES ON MY 95 YJ AND HAVE LIMITED SLIP UNITS IN THE FRONT AND REAR AND IT IS WONDERFUL IN ALL USES INCLUDING ICE AND SNOW ON THE ROAD. IN 4 WHEEL HIGH THE UNITS WORK WELL IN THESE CONDITIONS BUT I AM WONDERING WHAT TO EXPECT OUT OF THE RUBICON. I SEE SOME INFORMATION THAT THE LOCKERS ONLY WORK IN 4 WHEEL LOW RANGE AND AT A SPEED BELOW 10 MPH. THAT TELLS ME THAT ONE WOULD NOT USE THIS ON THE ROAD. SO, DOES THAT MEAN THAT IN 4 WHEEL HIGH THE RUBICON DOES NOT WORK EVEN AS GOOD AS MY YJ DOES?? I THINK THE RUBI HAS TRU-LOCK AND NOT TRACK-LOCK(CLUTCH TYPE LIMITED SLIP UNITS). I AM HOPING A FEW OF YOU RUBICON OWNERS CAN TELL ME JUST WHAT I DO HAVE AND HOW IT WORKS. THANKS GUYS!

Welcome @jeepguy44 ...lockers are what make Rubis the top dog for off-road trails. Usage parameters set by manufacturer limit the use as you described make sense as lockers at >10mph or on dry roads could be problematic. LSD are not lockers and can (debatable) be a better choice in foul weather when used correctly. As you know driver technique has a larger role in safe driving in foul weather. The traction devices just make it easier to get going.

I AGREE, GOOD DRIVING HABITS ARE KEY TO SAFE WRANGLER OPERATION. MY YJ HAS A DANA TRUE-TRACK IN FRONT AND A SPECIAL BUILT DANA 44 REAR INSTALLED WITH NITRO GEAR LS UNIT. I SEE INFO THAT TELLS ME THAT THE RUBI HAS A ALL GEAR LS UNIT IN THE REAR SO, AS I REPLACE THE FRONT AND REAR DIFF FLUIDS IS IT TRUE THAT I DO NOT NEED ADDITIONAL LIMITED SLIP ADDITIVE. I THINK I WILL USE REDLINE 75-140 IN BOTH AXLES. I AM NOT SURE ABOUT WHAT TO USE IN THE XLMSN AND TRANSFER CASE. THE RUBI HAS ONLY 54K MILES ON IT AND I WANT TO START WITH ALL FRESH FLUIDS.

THANKS, STU OLSEN'S WORKAROUND LOOKS GREAT BUT I LIKE HAVING A LOCKOUT (TOGGLE) TO KEEP MISTAKES FROM HAPPENING IF SOMEONE HAPPENS TO HIT THE LOCKUP SWITCH BY MISTAKE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW HOW "YOUR" JEEP WORKS AND WHY. THANKS AGAIN.
