I'm new to the Jeep forum and looking for some advice I bought an 09 Wrangler unlimited and am looking to make some "off road" modifications but don't know where to start? There's quite a bit of information so it could be a bit overwhelming… any advice would be appreciated

Lift wheels and tires is a good place to start, But also expensive.

Welcome! Agree with RC Jeep's choice for starters and I would mention some protective armor.

I agree with RC. Look for other jeeps on the road. See one you like? Ask the owner what he did to it and duplicate that.

Howdy. I have a 2010 JK since new and here is my story. For a while I did no modifications as I wanted to see the Jeep's capability off road - I was amazed at what she would do. Most of my driving is mountain paved roads but did manage to scare myself off road a few times. So then I asked myself how much modification did I "need" in order to have sufficient off road capability, the answer was not much. Jeeps can do amazing stuff off road with no mods. Then I realized I was just going for look rather than improved capability. I looked at lift, wheels, tires, but then realized many other factors came into play like spare tire carrier upgrade, gear mod, computer adjustment, etc. More than I wanted to deal with. Finally I decided to go with wheel spacers and 33's tire size to give me a bit more aggressive look without a lot of expense. I'm no expert at this but as I did more research my opinion of what I wanted changed. The hardest thing for me was to decide on tire size. I thought a 2-3" lift would accommodate 35s but discovered you either need new wheels with more offset or wheel spacers. So went with 33's and 1.25" wheel spacer. Will post a pic when complete. Good luck.
