Need some advice. I bought my JK with cool air intake already installed. I have no idea what kind it is as there are no markings on it but it clearly needs to be cleaned. How exactly do I clean it when I don't know who the manufacturer is??

Is the filter dry or wet? Is it just dust or is it kind of oily dirt?

Sounds like you have a oil cold air intake. Go to autozone or other part store and ask for cleaning kit for a wet cold air intake. Should have a cleaner and a new oil for the cone. Wouldn't hurt to have them double check to confirm that it's a wet intake.

Welcome! Not a fan of most CAIs though they look awesome nor the cleaning/reoiling/reusing of air filters. If replacing the cone air filter be sure to match up the diameter of the replacement air filter for the best secure fit especially since the brand is unknown.

    Welcome to the forum.

I'm with aggrex. Not a fan either. I had one in my XJ and I regreted installing it. Pain in the ass to maintain and there was no significant performance gain, if any at all.

Edit. Your avatar. Looks like a nice JK. Share some pics when you get a chance. We like pics. Lol.

I appreciate you expressing your opinions about CAI but as the thread stated, it was installed BEFORE I bought it. I was looking for advice about the cleaning and servicing. For those of you who actually gave me advice regarding the question in the thread it's much appreciated.

Sorry if I may offended you. Yes...I did see you bought the jeep with it already installed. Sorry if I came across the wrong way. Wasn't my intent. And I did notice other members, that I am quite familiar with, gave you the advice you were looking for. I didn't want to kick a dead horse. But if you notice. Several members did like my comment or comments. This subject, CAI systems, has been discussed in earlier threads. Was just making an observation that has been pointed out earlier. And my experience with it. Just saying.

Again...Sorry if I may have come across the wrong way. I thought maybe you might ask what is best for your jeep. Not criticize me for my post. Sorry. Was just trying to help without questioning your knowledge on these systems.

My bad. Wish you the best with your jeep. It's all good dude.;)
