Hey guys. Traction control is not turned off, just the ESC part of it. BLD, is part of traction control and is active in 4 wheel drive. That automaticly happens when the wrangler is put in 4 wheel drive. Even on my 2wheel drive vehicle, it is recommended to turn off the ESC, when it gets stuck in mud or snow, so the wheels can better spin out of it, otherwise it is busy trying to keep the vehicle going straight or where ever it thinks it should go. The ABS still works. ABS is not part of traction control. It is a separate computer function. The computer chooses what is on or off, like in 4 or 2 wheel drive. Some functions can be controlled by the driver, some are just automatic.

My manual states that when in 4 Low ABS is deactivated. It also has a comment about its threshold is raised (?) when in 4 Hi, so its less likely to engage on loose surfaces. I haven't been able to trigger ABS off road, but rather, the tires seemed to lock and slide. Havent tried this at any rapid speeds, but mostly around 25-30 mph.

Well, I did not know that the ABS is off in 4 wheel drive. I guess their is no light to indicate that, or I am not paying attention if it is on. I stated earlier that I did not think ABS was part of ESC. After looking at the manual , it states clearly that it is. Why wouldn't it be? Guess I should have had another cup of coffee before I dove into stuff this morning.

I have a Rubicon, so it may behave differently. I don't think it's fully "off" in 4 hi, it just doesn't activate as easily as it does in 2 wheel drive. In 4 low, it deacivates
