Overheating Grand Cherokee 4.7

    If my power steering pump goes out will that cause my jeep to overheat, I am new to owning a jeep and have replaced the water pump, thermostat, pressure checked the system, flushed system but my power steering pump runs through my fan so would that be making my Grand Cherokee overheat if it was out?

    Welcome! Not sure what youre asking. The 4.7 can have 1 or 2 fans, one being electric, and on the tow package. Do you have 1 or 2?

    Only 1 fan, No it is not electric it is a hydro fan that is powered by the power steering pump, I was asking if the power steering pump goes out would it cause the fan to stop working and overheat the vehicle

    Wow that's cool. Haha. I've never seen one of those, but your right they do make them as an option for your jeep. I would say yes if your power steering pump were to go out your would lose fan power. I believe you would notice a wining and difficulty turning before the pump went completely dead.

    Sounds like you are having overheating issues. You've done everything I would do. Only thing left is the radiator. They build up corrosion inside. Flushing them won't get it. You have it cored or buy a new one. A new one is usually cheaper than coring one.

    Didn't do much pump must have went out because I threw Lucas stop leak in to see of it would help, well it started whining after that lol, power steering pp should be in this week will update after its in! Thanks for the input have been racking my mind all week!

    Alright so I pulled oil cap and found some yellow gunk thinking head gasket blew but if it did wouldn't all the oil be a milky color?

    I would think that if water was getting into your oil that it would be milky when you drained it yes.

    And try to stay away from any type of stop leak. It will cause more cooling issues and other problems you don't want. Not to mention. It's just a bandaid. And bandaids fall off.

    This is what I found in top of oil fill but drained oil and it all looked good, very weird and have never seen anything like this before.

    Looks like build up from a bunch of small, short trips.

    Like what moisture build up or what I'm confused...but I did get power steering pump in today, redrained all fluids and head lines from radiator jeep is no longer over heating and seems okay we will see!!!

    A by product of combustion is water. This water vapor can mix with the oil, and form a "paste" in the filler tube and cap, like what you posted, if you drive many small trips. If you drive many short trips, this doesn't allow for your engine to spend enough time at operating temp, burning this off. If you drive a lot of short little drives, drive for 30 mins or longer once a month. That will help prevent the build up of that stuff in the cap.
