    I have a 04 jeep rubicon my speedometer is reading 4x fast, cluster is reading the same as pcm.

    The sensor has been replaced 2 times and pcm has been replaced 2 times and i've ran new wires from pcm to sensor. Also have disconnected battery and touched cables together at least 50 times and have did pcm reset with DRB111 about 50 times. Also have a perfect 5 volt square wave with scope, and i have removed cluster and test drove pcm. It still reads 4 times fast and my relucter ring in transfer case has 3 cogs.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Earl;

    Is this jeep new to you? Did you just make any major changes? Did it just happen one day out of the blue?

    :)

    i bought it like this, only thing that has been done to it before i got it was a new starter and radiator, and it has 285 75 16 in tires which would not make but a slight difference. I'm at wits end.

    ...that would only make about 5mph diff at 65mph. Why I asked is...if the last owner set it up for larger tires then it could simply be it has not been re-calibrated back to the smaller, stockish tires. ??? Just tossing around ideas......

    I know you say it has not been changed but have you verified you have the correct gear for the sensor? You have checked all the things you think it can be...humor me :) and check one you think can't be the issue.

    I deleted my comments here to make myself look better. (a little less dense) For someone who hates being wrong so very much...I sure do manage it so very often. haha

    I am assuming you have just replaced that top piece (the sensor) and have not verified the speedometer gear housing (the sensor attaches to this) and the gear (under the housing).

    Am I getting warmer??? or do I have to come back looking like: :anonymous:

    I've already replaced it 2 times with sensor from dealer it has no gear, from my understanding wrangler's have gear's and Rubicon's have sensor's.

    Stranger things have happened. A different transfer case....(241 vs 231) Makes sense. Damn....well ok :anonymous:

    lol ...and since you have replaced the PCM... That was all I had.

    I am going to go suck my thumb in a corner for a while.....

    I will be back if I have any "enlightened" ideas. :sorry:

    I know this is a some what old thread. But after reading it. I was curious if leedawg ever figured out the issue. I enjoy learning issues and their fixes.
    It's like a bad murder mystery. You still want to know who killed the butler. Lol.
    And C2T. Hope you have taken that bag off your head by now. Lol.
