    Everybody has an opinion on tires. It all depends on what you are using your jeep for. I feel that the best all around tire for a jeep or any 4x4 for that matter is a mild mud terrain like Toyo MTs. Of course there are better suited tires to specific uses i.e. rock crawling, mud, sand, concrete queen, etc.

    You might already know this, but with a 4in lift and no other mods you can get 37s without rubbing on the trails. You will probably need spacers if you are using the factory rims.

    Please post some before and after pictures.. I love looking to see how Jeep builds progress.

    Just for reference Your tires are 245/75/16. Looking at the marked tire above A,B,&C, A = 245 and references the width of the tire which is 245mm wide. B = 75 and references the height of the tire measured from the edge of the wheel to the top of the tire and is measure in a percentage of the width of the tire i.e.: 75% of A (245mm) which is 183.75mm. C = 16 and references the diameter of the rim which is 16 inches.

    Some formulas to get the dimensions of the tire.

    1in. = 25.4mm

    Width of the tire in inches: A = x mm / 25.4mm
    EX: 245mm/25.4mm= 9.65 inches wide.

    Height (overall) of tire: 2AB/25.4+C
    EX: 2 X 245 X 0.75 / 25.4 + 16 = 30.47 inches

    Your tire is 30-31inches depending on the manufacturer.

    You do not necesarily need to regear. For a long time (20000 miles) I ran 37s without it, but I did by a programmer to correct my speed on my speedometer. The same goes for 35s. Once I got serious into wheeling I did regear for more power (a significant increase noticed), and as an added bonus my fuel economy got better with regearing.

    285/75/16 = 33x10.50x16
    305/75/16 = 33x12.50x16
    315/75/16 = 35x12.50x16 This would be my choice., you could fit a 37in tire, but you may have some rubbing if you take it wheeling offroad.

    The 285/75/16 probably not.
    the 305/75/16 may need a wheel spacer to keep it from rubbing your control arms at a full sharp turn. I bet they will all look good.

    I like toyo MTs. That is what I have on my CJ. I feel they are cheaper than most name brand tires. I bought four 37x14.50x15s for $1200 and change including mount, balance, and tax.
