Finally got another cj5. Hello all

After almost 30 yrs without a Jeep I bought one the other day. A 79 cj5 with a 304 3speed. My brother buys and sells a lot of vehicles and after asking him to keep an eye open for a Jeep, the next day he found one. It sat in a copart auction lot. It had been redone at some point and is very solid with no rust except for a bit of surface rust on a slightly damaged passenger side below door. Looks like it was a tree hit and will be an easy repair. It fired rite up and drove.

We debated on a high bid we might offer. He said he thought it would bring 4-6K. Not wanting to go that high with a bid we started low. Come live auction day bid was up to 1550.00 at the start. We hit the bid button at 1600.00 and were the only live bidder.

It had a salvage title so we had to take it to a special inspection station to have a reconstructed title produced. It is there now and with a little more luck and perhaps parts it may be a winner.

I had a 76 cj5 with a straight 6 from 18-22 and had a blast.
I'd really like some history on this Jeep. Can I use the vin to find last owner? If so how?
