Thanks for adding me. I currently am a British Car / Motorcycle enthusiast and have restored several British / European motorcycles in my past, I currently own a 1979 MG “B” model (MGB).
I love my LBC (Little British Car), and completely restored it with all new parts ($3000 in parts), and She runs and drives like new.
I’m a medically retired commercial aircraft technician with 36 years in my career before it ended after a fall at work. My interest has now turned to perhaps owning a Jeep, we live in the southern Appalachians (North Georgia) and also own a 2012 Ford F-150 King Cab.
My thoughts are to sell or trade my little MGB (worth about $6500) for a comparable Jeep maybe. I haven’t made up my mind yet, and thought this site could answer a few questions about older Jeeps. I really know NOTHING about them, so thanks in advance for any insight.
Heres what little I DO know, that my little brother told me. He says NOT to get one with leaf springs, as they will “beat you to death”, and to get one with an inline 6 cylinder.
I don’t have a lot of disposable money for modifications, so I’m looking for a good used Jeep to take trout hunting in. I do make a little fixing golf carts and mowers, but sporadic.
What is the best / most reliable Jeep for me to trade / purchase? I’ve heard of Wranglers, JR,s? and a bunch of other types, but just don’t know what’s best. I am a fairly decent garage mechanic, and fix / restore all types of vehicles. I’m hearing that a 1993 year is one of the best for what I want. Any ideas welcome!IMG_0994.jpg

Welcome @BRITGEARHEAD ...hard to fathom that nice MGB in great condition is valued at 6500. No leaf springs and inline 6 leads to the the popular TJ version that could be an interesting search for a mostly stock low mileage reliable sample. IMO more funds will be needed beyond 6500 to fund a ready-to-go example but don't be discouraged as there may be one out there that meets your needs. There have been a few threads requesting similar information and try the search function for more tips. Good luck and post what you decide on. My time was and is still limited so I did the next best thing in 2016 to get back into a Jeep.
