Hi ! I have a 08 gc with a 5.7 and I wanted to know if anybody has had this noise ,to start there is no codes ever but while driving on the highway above 50 every so often a weird noise comes from either behind the dash cluster or on the drivers side of the firewall ,it only happens for a second but when it happens the engine cuts out for a second and then its fine it did it about 4 years ago and I found out that it was about 2-3 quarts low of oil but now the oil is full and still making the noise , it doesn't happen very much only about once every 4 days or so . I have had it to the dealer and no luck and also to a local shop and since it doesn't do it much they can't find anything . If anybody has had this noise please respond thanks

That’s a tough one, especially with it being so sporadic! Given it’s happening at highway speeds and includes a brief engine cut-out, it could be an electrical issue or even a grounding problem. Since it’s right around the dash cluster or firewall, it might be something like a loose ground or connector affecting the PCM (powertrain control module) or wiring related to the ignition system.

It’s good that you checked the oil—some 5.7s are sensitive to low oil, but since that's not it, I'd look into any possible TSBs (technical service bulletins) for your GC. Also, consider having someone check the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module); they’re known to cause strange intermittent issues in some Jeep models and could explain why the shop couldn’t reproduce it.
