Weird! Oil warning light comes on, but if I shut off the engine and restart it, the light goes off.

I am too old to figure this one. I just bought a new oil pressure sending unit and was about to have my mechanic put it on when I noticed the light went off after I started the engine twice. I may need to start it twice from now on unless someone knows why this happens. Just had a used OD transmission installed a day ago.

I dare not drive without my warning light working okay.

How long does it take for the light to come back on?

It will come on next time I start the engine, after about three minutes while my engine is not running. Maybe there's a relay that needs changed.
