    Hi Folks,

I have an Edelbrock alum head (91-06) and banks revolver header (91-99) for my 2004 Tj 4.0. I'm looking for a good walk through with components necessary for the exhaust to make it fit.

My vehicle has 4 O2 sensors, and has the stock 2 pc exhaust header into the 2 pc exhaust pipe w mini cats. I need to make the header fit and still retain all 4 O2 sensors, cats, and keep the check eng light off.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hey All,

    Update for anyone seeing this:
Don't use the revolver header, bad idea.

Better to use the Banks torque tubes: SKU #51306. It will fit with Edelbrock alum head and stock exhaust, I am currently running that setup with no issues.

I search for quite some time to find an answer and not to many on the web, but I am going through this same problem as Edelbrock instructions states to use 91-99 header but it does not fit my application as I have a 2006 Wrangler with two collectors for cats. I called them up and they just read the instructions to me over the phone, they have no idea. So I was stumped on what header to use, but thank you for clarifying this. I just ordered the header and waiting for arrival. How is it performing? Did you use the same rockers, pushrods or did you upgrade? I plan on staying with the rockers, any tips you can provide for install?

    Hey Flames 216,

I like the way it works, no complaints. I installed the header and intake on the head before I installed head on engine. Its a bit of a PITA to get it into position that way, but WAY easier than installing intake and header when head is already on. Just be careful, its awkward and clunky and you can hurt yourself. Having a friend handy, makes it much easier.

I'd pick up a pushrod length checker, Part Number:CCA-7658-1 from Summit Racing. That's one of the better ways to check. Google how to use it, it's not very complicated.

I originally installed Harland sharp rollers, and had to get longer pushrods. 9.650 New vs 9.639 factory. Doesn't seem like a lot, however I guess that little bit makes a difference. Unfortunately, the rockers made my jeep sound like a diesel really bad so i put stock rockers back on. Still sounds like a diesel, but not nearly as bad. Using 10w30 right now cause it seems everyone out here made a run on 10w40. When I find, going to try 10w 40 then 5w50 to see if that eliminates it. Weird, the eng never sounded like that until I rebuilt it.

If anyone can give some clues as to why it would sound like that I'm interested
Let me know if yours does after you install the head

Thanks for the reply, I'll let you know how it turns out. You said you rebuilt the engine? Did you honed the wall cylinders? Perhaps you may have piston slap?

The block was done by machine shop, however, I assembled the components. I put a 4.6 stroker kit with approx. 9.8-ish compression, molly rings, forged pistons and rods, comp cam SKU163-301-5, the eddy head, roller rockers, chromoly pushrods, a modified ATS Diesel torque converter, ATS modified valve body, shift kit, MSD coil pack, 65mm throttle body, the header mentioned before, complete end to end new exhaust system w/ a flowmaster delta 50 series muffler, ECU tuning, AFR gauge, new NGK O2 sensors, Flowkooler High Flow pump, 26# fuel injectors, and other goodies I cant remember at the moment.

Something to keep in mind... always try to use OEM Mopar parts when replacing sensors. I have discovered that jeeps are very particular in regards to sensors; they don't like aftermarket.

The noise is definitely not piston slap :)
