What does the button on the tailgate do?

    The button is right there in the picture on the right hand side after the P in jee

    Does anybody know on a 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo there is a button on the chrome strip that says jeep right below the rear window wiper. What is a button for

    Push it and find out @Bob49 . Most likely it's for a rear view camera

    I meant you have to stand outside to push the button when you do. Nothing happens when you look at the replacement part. It has wires coming off it. I’m just not sure what it’s for.

    we have a button on our Highlander that opens the rear window it looks like that

    You have your owner's manual by any chance? If it has wires running to it, it would almost certainly be documented in there

    2011 Grand Cherokee Limited v8 HEMI
    On the back of my 2011 JGC there are two buttons. The silver one you're referring to unlocks the hatchback and the entire vehicle and locks it again when pressed a second time (just like the button on the door handles). The button on the underside of the silver panel unlocks the rear window only.
