We are planning a couple of trips. We will be offroading. I am looking to carry some extra gas . I was considering buying the Rotopax Spare Tire Mounting kit. It goes around the tire and has mounts for extra gas and water containers. I watched a review on YT. Seems to be easy and gets the job done. Has anyone tried it? Thumbs up? Thumbs down?

Also, we will be towing our DIY Travel Trailer! I dont know if I posted this already, Ill make it short.

Its about 1500lbs. Its 6 ft wide and with out the tongue 10 ft. With the tongue 14 ft long. And 7.5 ft high. I love the little thing! It has everything! We take it everywhere!
Question....How do the smaller Jeeps do towing? How do they handle? Anything I need to know before I tow? My husband and I are worried about tipping over.

Ill post some pics. Im a bit scared to do so. Im just paranoid I guess! LOL! The travel trailer is getting a new panel and new outside paint job in a couple weeks. The Jeep is getting ALL the red taken off as well in the spring. I cant stand red and orange! Yuck!

The 2 door JK is rated at 2000lbs so technically it is doable. You absolutely will know that's back there and will need to drive accordingly. And I suspect you can delete 6th gear----------- Is it set up with trailer brakes? That would be a must have if I were doing this.

Delete 6th gear? Why is that?

It isnt set up with trailer brakes. Its pretty light. We can actually push and pull this around without a vehicle. Can you explian the need for trailer brakes?

Without trailer brakes, your braking distance is going to be really compromised. Good luck on an emergency stop too as the trailer will likely jack knife. Sixth gear? The only place you will likely have enough power to utilize that is down hill.

I noticed it doesnt do too well in 6th uphill. I mainly use it when Im on the highway. This is my first vehicle qith 6th. Took some getting used to.

And i will be researching trailer breaks! Thank you!
