'99 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo water leak in right side floor area.

Water is leaking in on the floor in the front passenger side. The SUV has 140,000+ miles and has been well maintained. I bypassed the heater, but it still leaks a little. In the mornings, I get moisture on the windshield that lingers a while. This problem seems to be above what I can do for it. I was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem and has suggestions.

Yes, odds are good the condensation drain is to blame. Peal back the passenger side carpet and mat. Follow the slight funnel made by the condenser housing down where it makes a 90 degree bend thru the firewall. It should have a round end about an inch in diameter with a small black plug in the center about 3/8" diameter. You might as well go ahead and remove the that plug and clean the drain by pushing as small diameter dowel of some sorts through the hole and re seal it with silicone. It's just good maintenance since you have the carpet up.

You will never be able to find the other end of the drain, I've looked for 27 years.

The leak is not really a leak in the classic sense. Where that drain passes through the firewall there is a (or was) a seal or gromet, if you will. That gromet has deteriorated. Condensation leaves the housing runs out the pipe and is blown back against the firewall, passes thru the opening and is deposited on the passenger floor. You cannot get to the backside to replace it, assuming you could find it, without taking the dash out. I fixed mine by forming a 3/4" diameter 6' long rope from plumbers puddy and forcing it around and thru from the inside.
