    New member researching a Wrangler Unlimited.

    Former motorcycle owner both onroad and offroad. Looking for an enthusiast vehicle for lite dirt offroad use and sand use in the Oregon Dunes National Recreation area and Sand Lake. I've owned a Toyota 4x4 pickup, Ford Explorer and Audi Allroad. All have been in the dirt, sand and snow. I haven't challenged any steep hills in any of these vehicles though. Something I will do with a Jeep.

    A Rubicon would be nice in that it would already have the options that I might upgrade to if I purchase something without locking differentials.

    Tell me how much of a diffence this would mean if I'm not going to do any rock climbing :)

    Welcome! I don't crawl rocks, but mostly drive in Desert trails, and sand. Personally, I bought the Rubicon for the Sway bar disconnect, lockers, gearing, and axels. Many of these things can be added to any other model of Jeep.

    Thanks for the input. I know in time, after owning a Jeep for a while I will find a reason to lock things up and make use of the lower gearing ;)
