Just noticed your post. Hopefully you've already solved problem. Gas smell in exhaust is a sign of a bad air/fuel mix. un-burned gas. Lots of computerized crap that can cause that, but anything too far out of spec should set CEL. First thing I'd do is pull the plugs and see if any are fouled black with carbon. Potentially a leaking injector.
Could be it's not getting good spark on all. clinders jand ust needs new plugs, plug wires and a tune-up. Let us know if you figure it out.

wow how did this fall thru the cracks - not seen without giving a suggestion..... IDK

    Anyway some thoughts.
A one time event or on severl ocassions?
DO not 'top off" tank, when gas hose clicks off your done.
A thought HOW do you know there is no codes? Being a tech I am anal about scanning...we love our scanners-
I will try to remember to check for any TSB's later today. Doubt it but WTF friends drive jeeps.

I have had this for the past month but have the P0456 Small evap code. Have replaced canister, purge valve, and ESIM but sometimes smell gas on passenger side.... I think it is small leak in fuel pump from researching.

EVAP leaks are going to require a "smoke machine" yes you could take a GUESS and replace gas cap*, hoses, components SHOTGUNNING its called.

    * OEM is suggested - aftermarket is not always the same.
