Good afternoon everyone! Just joined, so just saying hello. I’m negotiating on a lifted, base model ‘94 YJ that’s in rough shape but she seems to have a lot of potential. I’ve wanted a Wrangler most of my life but it was never “the right time”, whatever the hell that means.
I’m on an island in the Caribbean now and so what better beach toy than a YJ?
She’s going to need a lot of love to return her to her former glory, so I’ll be an avid reader on here as I plan to do most of the work myself.
Any tips, tricks, and general advice will be much appreciated.
    Have a great day!

Hope the negotiations work out. Looking forward to seeing photos of the YJ at the beach.

@cncrossland - it sounds like a nice old Jeep - will you be importing it wherever you are? If so, it might be good to get the basics such as brakes, tires, wheels, top, and whatever else it needs fixed, stateside, where the parts are plentiful and cheap. Also, there’s lots of good mechanics to choose from, including private guys who might do work as a side project for a flat rate or private treaty who really know Jeep’s and know what they’re doing.
There’s tons of used parts available on kijiji and Craig’s list, and if you could spare the time before shipping your Jeep, you could score most of what you need for bargain prices.
Good luck! If you want to do the work yourself, I understand, but don’t worry, there’s lots of stuff to do on an old Jeep, always, lol.
