Hey everyone just had a quick question, my neighbor is thinking of selling his 77 cj5 it has the 304 in it and he said it’s a 4 speed, I offered him 1,200$ and some work around his property and he’s more than likely going to take the offer, Is there anything I should look for on the jeep first or anything that’s common problems with them, it has no cancer rust and very little surface rust.

That’s sounds like a great price if it’s what it sounds like. Is the frame good?
Hard to believe that a 44 year old vehicle has no rust when was it last restored?
How many miles is on the engine?
Drive it lock in the rear ends check the transfer case & transmission
    Post some pictures
    I don’t think I would hesitate I love those V-8 CJ‘s.

Yes the frame is in great condition, I’ll post a few pictures I’ll be getting some more pictures Friday evening as well I’ll post them when I get them, but from what I saw the frame has no rust on it, and only slight rust I’ve seen is a little surface rust on the floor boards of the jeep but if I get it I can catch it before it has a chance to become a cancer like rust.
However it has been tarped and not driven in about 17 years so it’s going to need a new soft top and some tlc.

@-Willow- wow pretty solid - nice find! A Jeep like that is extremely rare up in here in Canada, in the rust belt.
