I am new to Jeeps and putting a 1988 YJ together and I find I have a BA 10 transmission. I am having trouble shifting and wonder if I would be better to repair or replace it with a AX15.

Thanks for the info. I find that the Peugeot BA 10/5 was only used a couple of years, I think 87 and 88. No one has any kind words for them. The jeep gets very light use and the only problem is shifting. I could live with it or fix it, I have not decided yet.

Hi, according to my experience, the BA 10/5 peugeot transsmission will works fine while treated with care and softly. the Aisin AX-15 transmission will performe much better for hard use and it's much stronger and reliable than the peugeot transmission.

Nevertheless, there is one particular issue with the peugeot BA 10/5, it has a sort of pin that secures the shifter in possition, some times that pin moves from it's location and generates shifting problems.

    Take a look on that.

I think i have all i need except the lower bushing for the shifter. If anyone has one, even in bad shape so i can get one made. I have put several parts in the transmission and really don't want to junk it.
