Baja Designs | SAE Compliance Service Bulletin

In November 2019 a third party made Baja Designs aware that the SAE Squadron was out of compliance with J583 guidelines. We immediately shipped samples to a testing facility for further verification. Our testing discovered that the light was over by 119 candelas on the upward horizontal axis. In more understandable terms, that is the equivalent of 1.19 candles at 10 meters. Our engineering department has been working on a fix for existing customers ensuring their SAE Squadron’s comply. We have developed a lens insert that has been tested and confirmed by Intertek, the global leader in compliance testing, that can be installed into existing products.

Current backorders of our SAE Squadron will ship in 3-4 weeks. Existing customers can either install the insert themselves or contact Baja Designs directly requesting a shipping label. Once we receive the light in-house, our trained technicians will update the SAE Squadron followed by expediting the now compliant Squadron back free of charge.

Please reach out to Baja Designs directly ensuring your SAE Squadron is updated within a timely manner.

**** NEW PRODUCT ALERT FOR CAN-AM X3 UTV OWNERS ****

    79367034_3041397112589956_25881533871281_7728de7b1d6ad6dcabfd5505e5ea54038eddbe12.jpg

Our team spent copious amounts of time at the R&D table with this kit, our end result was creating a light kit that will give you the performance and style your Can-Am X3 deserves. With the low amperage draw of the six S1 lights this kit won't draw a substantial amount over the stock lights though will greatly improve your driving experience. With our plug and play wiring system and precision cut and bent brackets installation is a breeze. If you're looking for lights that will set your X3 apart from the crowd and also give you race quality lighting this is the kit for you!

Jeep JL/JT, Rubicon Steel Bumper Kits

    Link: https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Jeep-JL-JT-Rubicon-Steel-Bumper-Kits.asp

Baja Designs has been helping customers mount lights onto the Jeep JL since 2018, thanks in part to the OEM Rubicon Steel Bumpers. The various mounting locations on the bumper make the physical installation a breeze, and after guiding many through this process, we felt it pertinent to provide instructions and a wiring solution to make this a ready-made solution for our customers. Take your pick of some of the best lighting options that exist and add them to your Jeep JL with a streamlined installation process. It has never been easier to have the safest and most effective lighting in the game for your JL/JT.

Note: These kits mount directly to any Jeep JL or JT steel bumper using an existing mount hole. It will not fit any Sport trim models or any plastic front bumper.

    Jeep JL/JT, Auxiliary/Light Bar Kits

    Link: https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Jeep-JL-JT-Bumper-Light-Kits.asp

Not all of our customers will have received the OEM Rubicon steel bumper on their JL/JT and will have the plastic Sahara style instead. Rest assured, we have kept you in mind with the following kits. The frame mounted brackets will place either LP4, LP6, or a 30” OnX6+ in the perfect location to illuminate the trail ahead and then some! The powder coated 304 Stainless Steel brackets will withstand the harshest of climates to provide rust free performance for the miles ahead. As with the previous products mentioned, all kits are available with either a standalone harness, or Upfitter wiring solution.

    Jeep JT, S1 Reverse Kit

    Link: https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Jeep-JT-Dual-S1-Reverse-Kits.asp

With the debut of the Jeep JT Gladiator, we were excited to learn that most features were identical to the JL. The only JT specific kit that was needed addressed a common pain point for Jeep enthusiasts; reverse lighting. Our S1 reverse kit replaces the OEM reflectors on each side of the bumper, providing a clean and elegant solution. Installation is a breeze by using existing OEM hardware and either standalone, or Upfitter wiring harnesses. The fitment matches the vehicle so well, it will make you wonder if it came that way from the factory.

    Jeep JL, S2 Reverse Kit

    Link: https://www.bajadesigns.com/products/Jeep-JL-Reverse-Kits.asp

For the JL, a reverse lighting kit was a must, but we were torn between our new S1 and the tried and true S2 lights. Because this kit was
meant for true trail vehicles, departure angle was our main concern. With that said, the S2 has a shorter overall height and can be
mounted above the bottom surface of the receiver hitch onto existing holes in the bumper. Short of cutting and drilling into your new
bumper for our S2 Flush mount lights, this is the cleanest way to achieve reverse lighting on your Jeep JL.

Note: This kit will not work with the sport-line rear bumpers.

Hey guys - Just wanted to share a brief announcement.

    Temporary LED Change
    Wednesday, February 17, 2021

Due to a global pandemic Baja Designs has experienced an increased scarcity of LEDs in our tightly controlled temperature range. This shortage affects our OnX6+, LP6, LP4, XL80, Squadron Pro, S2 Pro, and S1 series of lights. Rather than halting production at our San Marcos, CA facility, Baja Designs has opted to source LEDs in a lower color temperature range without sacrificing the performance and quality enthusiasts expect from Baja Designs. Beginning February 17th, 2021, Baja Designs will be shipping lights with a combination of LEDs ranging from 4000k-5000k.

Although we have long established that 5000k is the ideal color temperature, LEDs in the 4000-4500k color range are preferred to alternative LEDs more commonly available in the 5700K and up ranges. As such, we find that this solution is the most favorable option to continue manufacturing a premium product.

If you have any questions or concerns about this temporary LED change, you can ask here or DM me for more info.
