I have a 97' Grand Cherokee and was 'trying' to replace battery cables and GOT INTO a mess of wires after unwrapping it all.

I need help/ guidance on HOW to replace/ or if there is a place that WILL re-manufacture the wiring harness that goes from the fuse box to alternator to A/C compressor

here's a pic of the existing wiring

All you have to do is make it like it was before. I would suggest proper soldering and the use of shrink wrap to assemble it. Do you know where it all goes?

Well I do have the connectors as in the picture, but Ive never done ANY wiring/ soldering etc previously so was hoping to have NEW wiring made... I checked w JEEP and they have nothing, and recommended I check online or in forums for 'finding electrical' parts...or a junk yard. I don't want a junk yard part though as I am wanting to keep this Jeep, so little by little am rebuilding it new

If you could I would suggest that you match up the wiring by way of color and or size. Soldering can be done by referring to a YouTube video along with a shrink wrap application or you could get away with using black electrical tape to prevent the bare wires from touching each other. It isn't rocket science.

Welcome @VABSOLUTE ....soldering and heat shrink wrap skills will only get better with practice. Making a copy of the current wiring harness shouldn't be difficult as the OEM wire harness doesn't look too complicated.

He could use heat shrink butt connection
the ones you crimp would be pretty easy
And better than just tape. Don’t you think guys??

Heat shrink wrap will last longer and tolerate engine heat much better than tape

Yeah, heat shrink tube will help keep out corrosion which can upset a electrical connection. When I install battery clamps, I like to use those acid absorbing pads along with brass marine style terminal clamps along with oversize wires.

Thank you all for your help/ suggestions. I know folks here are 'mechanics'/or do it yourselfers...I thought 'I" could just replace my battery cables and didn't realize what It may turn into. Not having experience in doing something like this, even watching a video. I don't trust that the repair I would make would be 1. correct and 2. durable over time. I drive my Jeep about every day and 'now' because I got into it and had to take the wires apart because of noticing the worn and nearly broken ones... i NOW have a Jeep in a driveway that until i get this fixed...is Just sitting there (in the way) and causing a huge inconvenience because there are SOME days I NEED to drive it because of the room it has to carry things that my smaller car (and also not really reliable) won't carry. So am hoping I can find someone locally that can well..do what you guys are talking about...just more confidentally than I. thank you guys again. It really has at least been encouraging that A guy who doesnt know 'anything' really about fixing cars...could show up here ask a question and have someone 'answer'...emotionally at least I feel better about it and maybe what to ask for when I go looking for someone to repair it, since the chance of finding the wiring setup I need seems slim. Im an older guy and well..not a lot of friends around. Thanks

Where do you live? Stop by ur local
Advanced or Autozone,Napa and ask questions
tell them what you are looking for and I bet
You the guys working or shopping there can
Offer you some help or can hook you up with someone that can. Do a Google search for salvage yard or possibly a jeep club or mechanic shop in your area I’m sure there’s help out there if you just ask.

Rather than replacing the entire wire harness focus on the repair and reinstall if you need to get the Jeep up and running. The pictures of the wire harness appears to be primarily ground connections for the battery to frame and a couple other connectors. Walmart has an inexpensive source for ground wire replacement.

I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING!!!!

doesn’t look too bad just undo the bad ground
And repair the rest. You can’t do you can do it !
Let us know how you get along and if we can help.
