V8 Swap drivetrain

I am new here and planning my winter project. I am looking to put a SB350 in my 74. I was to keep it a straight drive. What are good transmissions to use to keep this? Thank you in advance.

 

Good question, the additional torque you will be adding will make a significant difference. There would be an issue with the short driveline in a CJ5 though, as a good four speed or an automatic tranny is a bit longer. I have seen quite a few guys bust gear boxes up with a V8 addition with stock drivelines. I do remember a '74 that had the Borg Warner T18 which is the heavy duty tranny and has a compound first gear ratio, and there are a few other trannys of this style also.

 

I had found something on the internet one time and cannot find it again. It listed all the transmissions auto and manual that matched up to a SB Chevy.
