Mystery wires

Any idea what these wires are "supposed" to be connected too? It has just flopped around with no home since I bought the jeep. the red wire with the stripe has 12v switched power.

This started because I was trying to see if my choke was getting 12v switched power, which it is not.

 

Use black electrical tape or wire caps onto those wires to prevent shorting or blown fuses or worse. Don’t own a CJ but those are just basic tips.

 

I plan to protect them from shorting out. I was hoping someone knew their actual purpose.

 

Haynes Publishing makes a repair manual for the Jeep CJ, in it is a wiring diagram for the '80 thru '83 CJs. The choke solenoid does have a solid red wire going to it. You should just trace back those wires to see where they came from.

 

Thanks, I'll try looking at a Haynes manual. I've found a lot more crazy wiring under the hood. It almost feels like the PO was trying to do a bad job with the wiring.
