I bought an aftermarket bumper for my 1981 CJ7. The instructions say to use the two factory bolts that thread into the frame from the bottom. The bolts that mount horizontally were included with the new bumper. My jeep didn't have a bumper when I bought it, so I need to purchase those two bolts. I have had no luck in finding the size of those bolts.

Welcome @unclejohnny75 ...start the search by contacting Quadratec.com for miscellaneous CJ parts. Local hardware store might be able to help

Yeah, I would suggest contacting a bumper manufacturer for that one. The best way to mount a bumper of any kind of a CJ is to transfer the load from the oem CJ bumperette mounts to the frame.

There are 8 bolts that connect the bumper to the jeep horizontally. I'm asking about the two bolts that mount the bumper from the bottom. Per the instructions the stock bumper had ten bolts holding it together also. These two bolts appear to screw directly into threaded portions of the frame.

Those are the bolts in question, but funny story...I went to my local fastener place, and we realized the threads are stripped out on one side, so a drillbit and a tap are going to be in my future. Thanks for the info.

Check with Napa you can purchase what’s called a Heli coil set you can buy them in various different sizes and drill out the old threads and put in new ones they come with a drill bit a tap and a tool to install the new threads. Good luck

Yeah, those are 7/16-14 bolts going into the rear shackle hangars. A heli-coil should work just fine.
Edit: Try and get some stainless ones.
