    I'm jumping into the Jeep world. I just bought a 1992 YJ Sport for a good price. My son works at a local car dealership and this come in on a trade. Fortunately for me, my son has an app on his phone that lets him know how much the dealer has in it. It does have a couple of issues but the body is straight and rust free.

    Biggest problem is it vibrates like all get out accelerating in second gear. The dealer is changing out some seals for in the front differential. They said the front drive shaft needs rebuilt??? Never heard of such a thing. I asked him if he meant U joints, but he said No, it was the drive shaft. Anyone heard of this? It is lifted a couple of inches and is running 35" tires.

    I will be spending a lot of time here, hopefully, getting this thing where it needs to be. This will not be a daily driver, but a weekend toy.

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    Got it for $2500, runs great, doesn't smoke....Just got figure out the vibration but I've got time. Does the "High Output" decal mean anything, or is it a marketing gimmick?

    Welcome @Kansan ....nice to see another YJ rejuvenated. Not likely for the front DS to be an issue as it should not be engaged in 2WD. Since there is an issue at the front diff perhaps that will be figured out by the dealer. Have them look at motor / trans mounts, tires+balance as well as the particular the lift kit installed.

    Hi Jerry;

    If the jeep vibrates, there are various possibilities but it could be also as a result from the lift, the new angle for the rear driveshaft usually generates such vibrations but It can be solved by installing shims to correct the working angle of the driveshaft.

    If the problem is in the front, it could be the result of a misaligned or twisted drive shaft, that's why you have been told that the drive shaft needs to be replaced or fixed.

    Hope it helps.
