I bought by 02 TJ a couple years ago. It came with one of those tube type bumpers. I want to get a winch but don't know to tell if I need a new bumper. A picture is attached. Any thoughts would be helpful.

To securely mount the winch to the frame you will need a winch mounting plate. Next check to see if the upper tube of the tube bumper provides clearance for proper winch function. Based off the pic there may be interference.

You might want to contact the maker of the winch that you plan to use for verification.

Thank You both. Based on the pic, does it look like a mounting plate will attach to the frame?

I have a Warn mount on my CJ and the oem winch mount is bypassed so the mount is attached to the frame. Although in your case that aftermarket front bumper might be an issue. If you do a lot of off highway travel, it is a good idea to check the frame for cracks.
