Is ARP # 146-3603 the correct head bolts for a stock 1985 258? I read some reviews and descriptions at Summit and am a little confused on this. My bolts are 7/16 and 2 different lengths. Thanks!

That’s the only kit on ARP’s website that lists the 7/16” bolts in two lengths. The confusing part is that they list the 258 with the 4.0 head, but not the stock head. I’m pretty sure they are the same bolt kit. I’d go with it.

Yeah, the 4.0 head was the thing that threw me. I'll take your advice and order it today. Thanks!

I thought of something else......I have a blown-up 4.0 from 2002. I can pull the valve cover and look and see if that one has 2 different length bolts. I just can’t do that until this evening. I’m confident it’s the right kit, I just hate to steer a guy wrong without checking everything I can. Worst case scenario is that you would have to return the set to ARP.

Thanks, but not necessary, I'm going to order this A.M. I also went on the official ARP site and their description also says with 4.0 head. 1 review on Summit recommended 146 3602, but that looks wrong to me. I'll take a chance on the 3603 kit and will post results. Thanks for the help.

    # 146-3603 is the right kit for an AMC 258 engine with stock head and 2 different bolt lengths. Only thing I had to do, in order for it to lay flat, was trim the valve cover gasket around several of the new head bolts.
