I'm going to completely remove the factory AC from my 85 CJ7. I'm guessing I'll need a new heater box or does it simply separate from the original heater? Is the hole in the firewall the same? Thanks!

I am pretty sure the heater is the same for a/c or not. Looking at my fsm for that year, they do seem to be pretty much separate units. I added a CJ air conditioning pump to mine and use it for an onboard air system, I can also run air tools with it.

Jim, I was planning on picking up a used non AC heater system that's on CL, I was leaving early Sat morning until I read your post. I called seller and cancelled the trip, BIG thanks for posting! I'm used to working on 1960's GM cars, where the AC and heater are one unit, not much Jeep experience yet. Anyways, I took out the AC today, came out in less 30 minutes, it IS a stand alone system, so I can leave my original heater in place. Looks so much better with it gone, much easier to fix some non working gauges and to delete the computer. Pictures are kinda blurry, I'm not good with wifey's phone.

Some CJ owner could be looking for that OEM a/c system

I had it on CL for $80, must be too high? I don't know what it's worth, if anything?
