CRAP!!!!.... been looking at DIY tear drop builds and have all sorts of ideas now.
    ONE PROJECT AT A TIME!

I have also thought of building just an offroad trailer to haul my camping gear. I don't mind a ground tent and have no interest in a RTT. With a family of 5 a tear drop is a bit small.

Maybe a should build both? Tandem pull?
Teardrop for solo trips or when the wifey comes with me and the camp gear trailer for family adventures.

Anyone here have an offroad camp trailer?

I’m working on one now. It’s a 1967 model M416 1/4 ton military trailer. I’ve converted it to 12v and put new tires on it. Will have it sandblasted the first of the year and having a waterproof metal locking top made for it and baskets for the sides and front for jerry cans and the generator. Rear spare tire and pop up LED lights to use at night. Attaching an awning for rain.

3 inch zone lift. Fox 2.0 shocks. 35 inch nitto ridge grapplers. Bushwacker flat fenders. No name steel bumpers front and back for now.
Looks like a sweet project! If I was gonna build one it would be started off from the exact same platform. I would put a locking and weatherproof top on it and then build a rack for a RTT and an awning. Would be the perfect size for a travel/camp trailer. Light weight and easy to customize. You just cant beat it

I've been looking for one of these that wasn't rotted to pieces. Found one a couple weeks ago and the guy upped the price on me after figuring out they usually went for 2K or more in good shape. I found this one from a guy who picked it up in a trade with an old Mighty Mite and he didn't want it. It had been in a barn for the last 15 years and is solid as a rock! No rust what so ever. Picked it up for $800 bucks and was glad to get it! I put tires on it to get it home as it had the original tires and they were shot! The tubes were all that was holding air in! Later I'll change the hubs and put the wheels that match my JK on it that I've got stored in my shop.
