so I feel really dumb right now. Trying to check the transmission fluid in my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 diesel. I open the hood. I see the oil dipstick but no dipstick or fill resivoir for transmission fluid. I open the owners manual and surprisingly it doesn’t give any help. Can someone tell me where it’s located? Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard! The dealer has a special graduated dipstick, and with the aid of a scan tool and an oil level chart, determines the proper oil level based on the transmission's temperature. Sadly, its not a DIY type of thing.

It's unfortunate but some dip sticks are being replaced with "life-time" fluids or dealer-only servicing. My 2010 X3 has no oil or trans dip stick. The X3 has an electronic oil level display and the trans is full when it drips out of the fill hole.

So now I feel even dumber. I get the no dipstick thing but how do I know if it’s running low? If it runs too low do I get an alert on the dash then? If so, I won’t worry about it. Feel like I’m walking the wire with no net beneath! Just a farm kid that likes to check fluid levels on a regular basis.

Don't feel dumb. Many of us have done the same thing at one time or another. The fluid level is monitored by the engine computer, but its a good thing to get is changed every 90k miles or so, depending on use.
