Need to regear to put 35s?

    i have a 2014 JK Sahara with a 2.5” suspension lift.
    Do I need to regear to put 35’s on it?

    What gears do you have? Standard 3.21 or optional 3.73?

    Welcome @Kenny672 . What @Blue Baby Sound said.
    Your lift has nothing to do with your gearing. It's your tire size.
    I'm running 35s with 3,73s. But I also recalibrated my tranny with a Flashcal Superchip. Response is awesome...mpgs also.

    It does have 3.73 gears in it.
    So looks like I’ll get the tires and recalibrate with a chip.

    That's sittin on 35s. Recalibrated. Highway mpgs. And, believe it or not. I've hit 20 plus with a tail wind. True story. So it is possible with 3.73s.

    I guess many people have different needs. Ive driven a JKU with TF 4 inch lift with 37's and stock 3.73 gears and it drove absolutely fine. Plenty of pull off the line, passing acceleration, etc.

    Everybody's butt meter is a bit different but as long as they are content with the response is all that matters. But I would definitely regear for 37s to regain the mpg and performance response off-road where it counts.

    A few.
    Well, once got a 3.5” lift and 35s .. I lost my 6th gear kinda .. sorta, manual, too ..

    Not sure the local shop did a good job here .. damnit ...

    I have no clue whatsoever how to recalibrate ...

    Depending upon stock gears 35s might be tolerable but programmers are out there especially for jeeps with auto trans. Not only will the speedo be off but the shift points are going to be affected.

    I don't get all the regearing urgencies. I have driven a 2008 JKU (non rubicon) with 37's, winch, and rear bumper and it drove just fine on stock. My current jeep jku is on stock gears with 35 X 12.5 R17's, RugRidge front bumper with winch, rear bumper with spare tire and spare tire swing-gate and it can pull out on the line just fine. Its not a vette, mustang, or muscle car but I can pull out in front of traffic and get up to speed with ease.

    Check out the JSCAN program on their website. Inexpensive and works with your smart phone. This product is much less expensive than the ProCal FlashCal etc. Since you have MT it will be nice to have an accurate speedometer

    According to all those speed meter thingies at those millions of schools around here, my speedometer is pretty good still, just my gas mileage is not... LOL

    My mpg takes a hit whenever passing those speed meter thingies on non-school areas on the road. Different color lights and alarming flashes occur when the speed recorded grossly exceeds the posted limit.
