2016 wrangler sport 78K miles. No previous engine problems. i was driving on the hwy and when i accelerated, my engine light would start flashing. When i took my foot off the accelerator and speed decreased, the engine light shut off. When i came to a complete stop the car shut off and didn’t turn back on. Dealership has had it for 4 days still no answer on what caused this or how to fix.

Its in the shop, they have vehicle, scanners and experience, I doubt anything I could add would be other than a guess.

You may want to check with service and find out What was done so far.

I’ve been talking to them daily and they can’t seem to figure it out. Today they will be testing compression and leakage. Hopefully i get some answers. Wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems before.

So on day 5 (today) I finally heard back and they said cylinder 2 has no compression at all. They want to pull valve covers, and possibly replace lifters, and see where the damage is. Price cost to do this is $1400. Is it worth having them do the repairs or take it to another mechanic?

Kinda think that should be covered under warranty.

Problem is there will be a charge for the incomplete diagnosis/time spent at the dealer followed by tow charges to another mechanic then the decision for whom best to repair the motor.
