So i had taken my jeep in to the tire shop had the rear brakes and rotors replaced. As soon as i left the garage i could feel that something was holding me back. When i got home i toldmy hisband and my brother something was going on withthe Jeep and both of them toldme that thenewbrakes just needed to get set in and then it would be fine. Well it wasnt i drove it ocassionally and other things started to happen. Like my brakes were squealing alot..and in certain places that should be simple for the jeep i was having to push the engine to between 4-6 rpms. So in my simple mind i know that doing this has to be hurting the jeep. I keep telling my family each time things are happening and they just treated me like i was being stupid. Then a few months ago im coming up our country road and at the top of one of the hills the jeep starts flashing Hot Oil. I shifted into park and waited several minutes started it up and finished my trip home. I was done asking family. I took it back in to the tire shop and has the guy theredrive it..he called me and said he didnt hear snything or feel anything but it needed new front brakes rotors and clipers nowon the front. Then i was like well maybe im hearing this and it was in the front. So when i took it home that day again same symptoms. I am so frustrated at this time wishing i could understand how things work in my jeep well enough to figure this out on my own because no one wanted to listen to me. So finally I was heading up to my parents place in the mountains and on the last mountain I couldnt get it to go over 20mph and it was up to 6000rpm. I was afraid i was gonna blow the engine or something so i pulled over put it in park and waited about 10 minutes started off again and took it real slow because i only had about 12 miles to my parents. Pulled down there driveway and there was a trail of fluid down the drive way and under the Jeep. My heart was broken but my daddy said all we can do is figure it out and take care of it. I said well what we need to do first is figure out whats holding the jeep back and i was positive it was something in the rear because that was when all this started. So we took off the wheels and rotor and bam what do we see but the parking brakes are rusted in place and the shoes themselves were in some places completely broken away some places there were pieces still attatched to the assembly. We removed the entire assembly and took it for a small test drive and guess what my Jeep was back running free again as it should. So now for figuring out what all has been damaged in it that needs fixed due to these brakes holding me back all this time. So we pulled her in the garage ended up pulling the transmission and replacing the rear seal on the motor and the front seal on the transmission because thats where we could see the most of the fluid was coming from. After we finished that took her for short test drive it didnt seem quite as bad so i decided to drive it back home (2hours) so that i could drop the transmission in my garage where i have the internet and can watch you tubes as i tare it down and find all the issues. Now finally this is where Im at dropped the transmission back out removed the torqu converter and couldnt see any obvious cracks so we filled it with fluid sat it on its side in some oil dry heated it with a hair dryer which we knew wouldnt heat it as much as running in a vehicle but may show if its leaking around the shaft and sure enough it is so i know we have to have a new torque converter but how do i know that this is the only thing in transmission that is messed up befor i put it back in again?

Tough call for whatever else may be a trans issue but since you have the skill set for trans removal+install I'd run it and next time do your own brakes.
