I just purchased a 2016 Wrangler Sport unlimited low miles last week. Took it off road and went for a few hours not too rough. after an hour we stopped and when I went to start the jeep it was dead, nothing, played with it and after two minutes it started right up. I continued on off roading and did go thru some water and mud and after leaving and afraid to shut it off when I got home I turned it off and tried to start it again dead, nothing, not a cranking noise nothing after a few minutes went back and tried it again and it started right up.

Since then the jeep has started every time. Had the dealer check it out and they say they did not find any codes of anything wrong. What I am afraid of is getting stranded someway and can't get it started, anyone have and similar problems or ideas, Thank you NYFred@aol.com

Welcome! Start with the basics by looking at your battery connections. Cleaning them up and retightening them may resolve your issue especially since it's intermittent. Another thing is to get the battery checked out for internal short as you seem to like off roading some rough trails not that there's anything wrong with that.

+1 on the battery connections. The posts are tapered so the terminals are difficult to get fully seated. I use a large socket and gently tap them down on the post.

Secondly, average life of a factory battery is about 2 years. If your terminals are fully seated then have your battery tested IMO

    Good luck!

I have a 16 JK also. And im haveing a simular problem. Turn key..... absolutely nothing at all. I've checked and rechecked terminals several times. Traced my aftermarket lights to see if there's a short. Nothing. When it happens. I pop hood, rattle the battery around. And bam.....it starts. So of coarse I assume it's a battery issue. Plugged in my Superchip. And no codes. Next move...new battery. Is your issue simular @nyfred ???. Post up your fix dude. K

I too and getting this intermittent starting issue.
    I have hit several forums.
I have run the gambit of all the tests, and seems to be narrowing down to a couple areas.

The Parking sensor switch in the housing the automatic shifter is housed, that indicates if the vehicle is engaged in park all the way or the transmission range sensor house on the transmission that from what I understand basically does what the neutral park switch does.

Pulling my hair out looking for a hack to bypass the damn thing...
