I am new to this site but I have been reading a lot of post on the P1692 code and no speedometer working. I have not found anyone that has found a solution to this problem. It seem like this is on the 2003 and 2004 TJ Rubicon. Everywhere I’ve read it’s the same type of situation. For some reason battery’s dead disconnected or loss of power. After reestablishing power to vehicle check engine light comes on and you have a P1692 code. This code cannot be reset by the dealer or any OBD2. I have read that everything from the speed Sensor, Instrument cluster, ECU could be bad. I have read anything about anyone changing them out and it fixing the problem. I will take all help and ideas. On a side note the speed sensor is no longer made and you can’t find it anywhere. Part number 5033202AB. I think this was used on the 2004-2005 PT Cruiser also.

the other post had details - I don't have time to reread but it was all programming issues IIRC and the need to reflash ? - have you been to dealer or do you have a scanner capable?

I did not remember seeing a fixed for the issue -

Yeah the jeep PCM are getting hard to find, time to start scrounging the junk yards I wonder how that issue will play out - trash the old jeeps , an alternative swap, a supplier of NEW units, planed obsolescence - not a good ending right now
