I just acquired a ‘78 CJ5 base model, 232 cid inline six that’s pretty much bone stock. It is/was a Levi’s edition, whatever that means. I don’t like the color so plan to do the little body work needed and paint it. Plan to convert over to electronic ignition, replace carb with two bbl and replace the small, aftermarket breather with something better. Otherwise, I just want to clean it up and bring it back to being a nice, reliable Jeep in mostly original condition. I’d like have something to drive around on pleasant days. Im fairly knowledgeable in the mechanical arts, but will be grateful for any advice i can get from experienced owners. I’m located in the western Edwards Plateau in Kerr Co., Texas. Thanks for having me.

    Hello Rick, welcome from Oklahoma.
Sounds like a good little project you have there. The Levi's Edition had seats and soft top made from the Levi Jean material mainly, and blue and tan color.

    welcome to the forum :jeepwave:

Nice find, keep it original thta will be the value, if you do change the air cleaner keep the parts!! - as these vehicles age the OEM becomes harder to find. Bolt the big wheels on keep the original, Change the bumpers keep the original, Change the shift knobs keep - I am thinking down the road.

As for the color, my 2¢ match the color on the build sheet, build placard, if it has not been repainted keep it stock - Ca ching for a un F'ed with jeep.
