    Hey everyone, hoping u can help me figure out what happened. Had a small fire under the hood today. What is this part and why did it catch fire upon starting engine??? Any suggestions?

    Would this be a regular mechanics fix or jeep dealer type of thing to fix? Idk, I'm a nurse not a mechanic

    Not really. Obviously it's on the firewall. And appears to be a tube or wire of some sort. But need to see where it's coming from, or going to. Need more info. Could be a short at the point of the fire. It was at start up?

    Welcome @Bluejay4923 ...how did the fire go out? Have you driven the jeep since the fire? Everything still functioning as designed? Fire needs an accelerant like oil, gas, grease etc. So look for oil/gas/fluid(brake/steering/trans) leak or spills for clues. Looks like the "fire" melted the rubber seal above the metal tube (brake line?). Someone throw a cigarette butt on those leaves?

    Did you figure out a fix, or what happened here @Bluejay4923 ?
    I hoped if I saw the bigger picture. I might be able to help ya. But there are a few great questions posted.
