Body lift

What’s the opinion on body lifts??
And how difficult are they to install other than getting the old bolts out.

 

I have had a 1" body lift on my CJ for many years and like it. I makes it easier to clean the mud out. Everything between the frame and the body must be compensated for the lift. like brake lines, gas hoses, radiator level, fuel lines, cables, linkage and so on.

 

I Don’t have to change anything like the hoses or brake lines with a body lift correct ??

 

I remember having to extend the fuel filler and fuel filler vent hose by loosening it and extending it a bit. Same with the brake lines and the clutch had to be readjusted. The radiator mounting holes had to be drilled to lower it 1" to keep the shroud on center with the fan. The gear shifters might hit the tunnel with the body lifted, so make sure they will clear. I also had to loosen and extend the steering shaft as the steering was pretty tight due to it binding due to it being extended. Check all electrical wiring between the frame and body when you lift it so you don't pull anything apart.

I considered a body lift with my XJ when I still owned it. And I went with the suspension lift. Body lifts just to much to consider. As mentioned above. I ended up doing a 2" spacer lift. And it worked out great.
