You are not supposed to have any oil coming out of the axle tubes as there is supposed to be a seal inside of them to prevent that from happening.

Where is the seal? When I pulled the axle out there was nothing else. Is the seal close to the rear end ? back towards the middle ?

Could I have too much oil in the rear end? It shouldn’t be in the axle tube. Right??

The front axle has seals closer to the center on the inside of the tubes where as the rear needs the oil to travel out to lube the bearings,

It’s a 98 TJ No bearing until the hub assembly no way for the oil to travel from the rear end down the axle tube to the hospital

Glad you found the issue. Thought the general axle refill process was to pump axle fluid into the fill hole until it trickled out. Axle seals are usually near the pumpkin. Sometimes there are axle shaft guide rings within the axle tube.
