Hi all, I came into an 83 CJ and it is stock. It has a couple problems that aren't horrible but needs some TLC.
Has a new carb, a little hard to start. Have to pump the gas pedal to get it to start and usually takes a few tries.
Speedometer and gas gauge dont work.
looking forward to learning from experienced wheelers on how to get it in shape.
Considering doing the Gambler 500 when it's dialed in.
    Cheers, Kris

    Hello Kris welcome from Oklahoma.
Been awhile since I have messed with a carb.
Would like to get me an old CJ. Post up pictures when you have the chance.

Speedometer issue could be a broken cable. You can disconnect it from the trans/tcase and put the drive part into a drill to spin it up and see if the speedo moves.
Gas gauge could be a ground issue, a power issue, or a base sending unit. I would disconnect the sending unit and use a multimeter to see if you are getting power to the sender.
