93 ZJ Control Arm Bushing Problem

Knocks when turning the wheel clockwise in reverse

 

Unless I'm buzzed again that sure looks like a bent sway bar end link cracked bushing.

 

I am buzzed. And I know that's a bent sway bar, and fubared bushings.
Quick and cheap fix. Local scrap yard for sway bar. And new bushings. Easy DIY fix.
Post up your fix dude. Might help another member in the future.

 

I have a new one with bushings. What kind of problems does this cause ?

Looseness in sway bar could make some noise, bend the end link, or delay anti sway

 

Not sure that is the cause of the sound.
Disconnect that side and try the scenario again.

 

OK what tools and equipment will I need for this job ? And how do I go about it ?

 

A couple of sockets or wrenches, I don't know the size right off and maybe something to pry with.
Remove the top bolt (vertical) and the bottom bolt (horizontal) and remove the sway bar link. You may have to pry it out especially with it bent.
Install the new one and bolt back in.
If you are unable to get the old one completely out or the new one in for whatever reason, don't be concerned as you can drive without it.
If you can't get the old one out try to tie it to the swaybar so it is as out of the way as possible and either acquire the cutting tools necessary or have someone assist. A hacksaw would work but would be exhausting, a sawzall or angle grinder with a cutting wheel would be preferable.

 

Off the pic on the bottom of the end link is a bolt requiring either a hex or torx. If the bolt head is very rusty it could strip generating some cussing.

 

Honestly @TinyInkognegroT. I've changed on 3 different Jeeps recently. A XJ, a JK, and a ZJ. And all 3 were different. I'd like to,say do it this way or that way. But cuz the sway bar is a tough streering component. I found the best way. Install the links. This way there's no pressure on the sway bar. Then use your knees, ....or a jack to push the bar up into the main bushing mounts. Although your results may differ......
