    Hello all,

    I recently received a p0404 code and replaced the EGR valve. The garage removed the code but it came back on again. Any idea what else there might be? I did have the slight smell of gas when I would cold start it but that has been the only sign that I could compare to a stuck valve.

    the light is on ?
    If its on get a scan and post ALL codes. Scans are FREE at many auto part stores;
    - Do not erase as data is lost (freeze frame) that may help diagnose.
    Knowing all codes and other issues may help.

    P0404 -EGR POSITION SENSOR RATIONALITY (open)
    This is a rationality conflict with pintel position, the PCM does not like the info it is getting.
    This could be wiring or a EGR valve itself. In shop we would command EGR and observe the other sensors to confirm EGR opened or not.

    You could get ALL the codes FREE and post here.
    Cleaning EGR is an option, BUT if it removed replacement is cost vs time to clean, and probability cleaning is fix.
