    ok so im stumped here. does anyon3 know if the LJ has a known issue with the left rear axle seal. when i bought it 5 years ago i 3nd3d up putting a new used axle in it because the left rear axle wouldnt even hild the bearing and keeper. now i cant get the damn thing to hold oil same side differant axle. have replaced seal and bearings 2 times now within this seal and bearing doesnt even have 40 miles. no2 wh3n i replaced this set. i checked axle and there doesnt seem to be any significant groving where the seal rides on shaft. and yes i put red silicone around it when installing. no damage noticable on axle housing. i did notice the outer race for 2hatever reason doesnt seem to be extremely tight as they usually are. meaning it took little effort with slide hammer to get it out. im running 35s with 2 inch spacers. aside from removing tire and caliper hitting it with brake clean and keeping a eye on it to see where oil is seeping. my guess would be the shaft area itself. but as i said it showed no groving. any 1 else ever ran into this issue ?

    Which differential a dana - 35 or 44?

    Maybe its time to use a NEW axel, there are some option codes needed in part # selection. Too early to look that up BUT your jeep dealer will figure out the different numbers based on VIN.

    Just look at one of the 2 selection choices.

    I am not trying to be negative, I do not know WHY multiple part #s for your axle. Above is the 44 list, this is what parts professionals do, what are the differences between numbers. IDK .
    The chance of a 'used axle' , properly tagged, randomly matching - has me thinking that is where to start.

    Speaking of LJ's @Awrench I'm going to regear sooner than later and have been told two gear ratios are best . I'm running 33's with automatic 42rle and 4.0 should I go with 4.88 or 4.56 ? I will eventually go to 35's but probably not till next tire change after I swap my current out maybe 2 years. Dallas off-road will do it for about 1400 parts and all

    BGA = Power Front Disc/Rear Drum
    BRW = 4 Wheel Disc

    As you can see it also list two body styles a 77 and 78 however the TJ parts catalog I found does not specify what body style 78 is only 77 (93.4 wb) so I assume 78 is the Unlimited 103.4 wb.

    The J and the U stand for regular Jeep (J) and right hand drive (U).

    Dallas off-road will do my regear for 1499.00 plus a 200. rebate that includes Yukon 4.56 and master install kit. Everyone within 100 miles with a Jeep speaks very highly of them so my regear is getting done sooner rather than later. They are doing a SYE kit for 500 also includes everything but the driveshaft. Adams drive shafts 299. Free shipping and lifetime warranty accept the u-joints.
