    I
I'm sorry to disagree but Toyota pioneered 4x4 with the Toyota BJ in 1951 which later became the land cruiser . Hell with ANYTHING British made.

But in my humble opinion the FJ 40 is the toughest ever made and that's why a fj40 shell cost over 10 grand they stopped production way before the 2000's

Oh I thought the Land Rover was 1947/48, second to our military jeep. Toyota rebirth was born out the rebuilding reconstruction of the defeated Empire by the Americans doing the work of god and the ideals of shaping a better world. SO the BJ would be a latecomer to this vehicle class.

The point was look at the A typical land rover it history, where it explored and its configuration.
Add to that the legend military jeep - the farther of off road specific vehicles - did MacArthur or Patton need a 4" lift 35" tires and LED's to conquer the world and spread democracy - YET we cant drive to the end of a forest service ROAD without.

No they didn't need a lift and 35 " tires but I bet they wanted it! Lol long as your talking Toyota and not British POS anything we are on the same page.

Toyota is the land cruiser people in Australia swear by them . Some of the toughest Wheeling there second probably only to Alaska for being remote and very rugged. I watch way to much YouTube Awrench
