What is in store after the lift.

My wife and I have decided on a metalcloak 3.5 in game changer lift for her sahara with cheap shocks. Mostly because the shocks are free and you can buy the 6 paks for the same money at anytime. And I'm a little scared of what happens after I jack up the Jeep and put 35's on. I plan on putting on rockers and bumpers then. My concern is the Dana 30 on the front end... My thought was nitro sleeves because the steering stabilizer looks like it will get in the way of gussets. Then, do I need new axle shafts as well? Momma will be right pissed of we go wheeling and she snaps her stock axle on the first obstacle. Or should I be more concerned with needing a new drive shaft, or a rear locker? Now I'm no noob to a wrench, or a welder for that matter. But I've only ever focused on running in stock form on any other engine. So when I see you guys talking about regearing I have to know..... Why? I think that is all that is on my mind at the moment.

To run the 35s well your going to need to buy a programmer to let the jeep CPU know the tire size changes so the trans can shift properly. The 3.5 GC comes with rocksport shocks which I wouldn't call cheap. Take your time on the rocks and build/replace as needed. Enjoy

 

Great input! Thanks aggrex. With the rocksports your right not exactly cheap but what is puzzling to me is the 6pak shock kit was 1400 bucks more than the rocksports. And the 6pak upgrade kit was 1400 bucks. Decision made easy. I'll purchase that programmer.

 

Easing your wallet depletion some cost savings (let momma know) can be found by having the lockers done at the same time you're regearing.

You'll want gussets if going off road. Truss and/or sleeves will be good too.
Make sure the "free" shocks are the correct length (unless you're talking about the rocksports)
At 3.5" of lift a front drive shaft will happen sooner or later, your choice.
With 35s you'll want the right gears. Most Saharas come with 3.21, a few with 3.73. 3.73 is the bare minimum for 35s on a 2 door, and not much fun on a 4 door. IMO shoot for 4.56 gears. You'll want an experienced shop to do the work if you've never done them before.

Other than that I always recommend armor/recovery. A good skid plate, diff covers, bumpers, rock rails (not a step), winch, straps, etc.
