I'm new to the Jeep world and looking for some advice/tips. I only recently developed interest in the DJ5 and would be interested in finding one. Since I'm a history buff, I show interest in the early DJ5, particularly 1965 (DJ5 was a 1965-1/2 model introduced in February 1965 to replace the outgoing DJ3A, which bowed out with 50 final '65 models in 1964). It seems 1975-83 DJ5s are very abundant, compared to 60s models.

I noticed most DJ5s for sale are 1970s-80s models, and hardly any one pre-1969 shows up. I know of the early DJ5s ('65-67) before the '68-69 changes but never see any pop up. I could do automatic only (shifting gears is too hard for me so CJs are off limits) so I was excited to see that the early DJ5s did come with auto in this sales brochure aimed at the U.S. Postal Department and contract carriers (www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/jeep/65jpd/65jpd.html). Anymore info or advice?

    Thanks!

CJs were available with an auto as well, it was not as popular but they are out there.
Of course it's nothing a little drivetrain swap couldn't take care of.

    Also, welcome from Oklahoma.
