I just bought BF Goodrich All Terrain 275/70/18 tires(replaced my standard 255/70/18)for my 2015 jeep Sahara and they are rubbing when I turn slowly. I called the dealership before buying and they said I wouldn't have a problem with this size. Now I need to return them any suggestions

Hello Ms. Amanda, welcome to Jeeps.net from Oklahoma.

I would turn the steering full lock both directions and see what it is rubbing on. The new tires are only .8" wider than your previous tires and that's .4" on each side of the tire. Your previous tires must have been cutting it real close to rubbing if .4" is rubbing.

Did you get new wheels too? If so the back spacing/offset could have something to do with it.

You can get wheel spacers to give you a bit more clearance. Just make sure the lug nuts for the spacers are torqued with some lock-tite and the torque is rechecked occasionally as some people have had problems with the lugs sheering off and your wheel/tire goes rolling by you on the highway.

If you are still running stock wheels, new wheels with a different back spacing/off set would also get you fixed up.

thank you for replying. No I didn't get new wheels. I was just looking for a better look on jeep without a lift kit. I'm headed back to the tire store now. They said I have to go with 265/70/18. He said the all terrains are thicker and that might be the problem. not feeling very confident as everyone I talked to said the 275/70/18 would work.

Welcome! As mentioned by @Prerunner1982, see what's rubbing. If it's the plastic splash guard under the bumper it could be trimmed or removed. Otherwise some quality wheel spacers can help. Let us know what is rubbing.

Just wanted to let you guys know I’m at the tire store and it’s the control arm that’s rubbing on both the right and left side of the tires. I don’t want to hassle the spacers so I’m unhappily putting on 165/70/18 tires. I’m going to try to upload a picture and maybe this will help someone else out. Thanks again for trying to help me.

Well they are a little bigger and I'm sure they look nice and will provide added traction for the upcoming winter. Check out some of the other JK builds for some ideas where to spend your jeep bucks ;).

I may be looking at the pics wrong. But it looks like they were rubbing on the sway bar. Control arms come in from behind the tire to the axle. I realize your not crazy bout the hassle of wheel spacers. But to keep that look your going for. It might be worth it. They really are maintenance free if installed correctly.
