Jeep floating on highway

    1998 wrangler
    Good day all. I have a 1998 Jeep Wrangler 3 1/2 inch lift on 35 1250s, put lots of money in the suspension it drives very nice no wobbles smooth as a whistle, but at certain speeds mostly 65 to 70 out of the blue it will just start floating back-and-forth to where I have to slow down. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Ty!

    Welcome! Whats the condition of the shocks? Worn or leaking or damaged shocks? Loose shackles? Tires?

    Tires are brand new BF good rich all terrain, shocks are fairly old from the looks of them the shackles are all new all new tire rods radius arms front and rear adjustable Sway arms. I don’t know all the proper terms

    Since there was some suspension work performed consider having those fasteners retorqued. Guess new shocks were not part of the upgrade. Tires properly inflated? The terminology will come naturally with time spent here while loosening up the wallet LOL

    Yes, I’m starting to understand the Wallet thing LOL. When I first got it it had every problem with wobbles, pulling, etc. got everything straightened out it Rides really good but just out of the blue it will decide to float and then of course when you try to correct it becomes a fun ride temporarily LOL. My mechanic says to put new shocks and steering stabilizer then go from there, but he’s not a jeep expert but a good mechanic. I can deal with it but the wife will probably panic and jerk the wheel. Trying to make it safe as possible. I understand it’s a jeep and it will not ride perfect but I think it can get better hopefully

    I have had this happen with leaf spring jeeps, but not as often with a coil sprung like yours. You said it is a 98 so I am assuming yours is coil sprung and you mentioned shackles (found on leafsprings) so I'm thinking that you mean something else instead of shackles; like aggrex said the terminology will come. Pay attention to the road when this happens. With larger tires; grooves in concrete or ruts like in well worn blacktop or even changes in slope can make the jeep "hunt" left and right.
